SACS Accreditation

The process for reaffirmation includes two steps – certification of compliance with 75 principles (see www.sacscoc.org and click on Accreditation Project and then Principles of Accreditation) and the acceptance of a Quality of Enhancement Plan (see pages 9-11 in the Principles). The process differs from the one used in 1995 when UNT was last reaffirmed by SACS and the changes were made to:

  • develop clear and concise standards that concentrate on best practices in higher education,
  • to streamline the internal review process,
  • to enhance the effectiveness and consistency of the external review process,
  • to increase attention on student learning outcomes and institutional improvement, and
  • to ensure that standards and review processes foster a culture of institutional integrity, are appropriate for the changing higher education environment, and benefit the institutionand the public.
